•• Что тут непонятного – это слово означает (и переводится) уникальный. Не все, однако, так просто. Не случайно «радетели за чистоту английского языка» упрекают американцев (да и некоторых англичан) за то, что те любят говорить very unique. Правильно упрекают: unique должно означать единственный в своем роде или даже единственно возможный (как в математике: The problem has a unique solution. – Задача имеет единственное решение). Но так уж получилось, что в реальном словоупотреблении оно «сдвинулось», и теперь воспринимается многими в значении оригинальный, своеобразный (может быть, потому что слово original редко употребляется в этом значении, чаще оно значит первоначальный). Из сказанного два вывода: во-первых, слова unique, uniqueness пригодятся, когда в переводе надо сказать об оригинальности, своеобразии чего-либо; во-вторых, хотя very unique звучит действительно не очень грамотно, absolutely unique is absolutely OK.
